NAACP McComb Branch and MORA: Advancing Health Through Organ Donation Awareness

The NAACP McComb Branch is honored to partner with the Mississippi Organ Recovery Agency (MORA) to promote education, awareness, and participation in life-saving organ and tissue donation—particularly within African American communities where health disparities are most acute.

This partnership reflects our deep commitment to health equity, access to quality care, and saving lives through informed decision-making. African Americans make up a significant percentage of those waiting for organ transplants, yet historically have had lower rates of donor registration due to mistrust, lack of awareness, and systemic barriers. Together, we are working to change that.

Through this collaboration, we aim to:

  • Educate the community on the critical need for organ and tissue donors, especially among communities of color
  • Address myths and cultural concerns about donation through open dialogue and trusted community voices
  • Increase donor registration through outreach at health fairs, churches, and civic events
  • Save and enhance lives by encouraging informed decisions around organ and tissue donation

MORA brings expertise, resources, and compassionate care to families navigating these deeply personal decisions. The NAACP McComb Branch brings trusted leadership, cultural competence, and a mission of justice in healthcare access.

Health equity includes the right to receive—and give—the gift of life.

Join us in spreading awareness, saving lives, and building a healthier Mississippi.
